Kabale Institute of Technology and Applied Sciences (KITAS)
KITAS aims at addressing the persistent problem of unemployment in Uganda. We must recognize that technical education is the most sustainable way to avert unemployment by producing job creators rather than job seekers. The institute gives students, who have the required academic standards (Senior 4 and above as well as holders of junior technical certificates), to acquire craft certificates in various disciplines. In future, it will offer advanced craft certificates and diplomas. The academically challenged graduates can of course continue for degrees. KITAS will also be introducing short-term courses which do not require the above minimum qualifications.
KITAS is recognized by the Ministry of Education and Sports. It is also registered as a non-governmental Organization (S. 5914/7179). The institute has received support from tools for solidarity of UK and recently, from the Investment Programme of Business, Technical, Vocational, Educational Training (IP-BTVET); the later training its staff and providing books, tools and buildings.
