St. Charles Lwanga Technical Institute Butende
The Institute is privately owened and administered by Masaka Catholic Diocese. It started after the 1979 liberation war under the sponsorship of the KAB Degendorff in Germany. It is registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports, and also possesses a UNEB center Number (UT045).

After advanced level they join other institutions like universities in engineering i.e. Building and Civil engineering, Architectural engineering or they study a diploma in Technical teacher education.
At or institute, we train our students joinery work and carpentry work examples of joinery work we train to students include.
-Antique-style pen broke tables, Traditional oak tool cabinet, modern paneled doors and other types of doors, windows, chairs, school desks, benches, curved wooden bowels, cup boards, office furniture e.g. Book shelves office desks, pen bloke table, bent wood chair, laminated chairs, folded tables, folded chairs, draw leaf tables and all kinds of curves and designs.
In carpentry work, we also train students how to roof houses, making shutter rings, form works for labs and floors and all kind of works that relates in carpentry and joinery. The institute is well equipped with hand tools, portable power hand tools and all kinds of wood working machines as well as trained departmental teachers
